One server just isn’t big enough to hold the amount of gaming juice deposited by the Phoenicians, so now we have another one. Classy has very kindly donated his converted Left 4 Dead server to the cause, and we think he’s very nice for doing so.

The new server will be used for custom maps and will feature all kinds of modded goodness. Expect the main Phoenix server to remain Vanilla and continue to be the main server for events and squad matches.

We had a great Christmas themed Phoenix Nights last night which featured some top class croonerage from yours truly.

Hope you all get some great games and gadgets from Santa (fingers crossed for my G15).

We have Season 2 of the Wireplay 6v6 starting in January, so don’t forget to practise your 1337 skillz over the festive period. We won’t have any official events until January, but hope to see some of you online.

England Wins

2-2 on Well, 1-0 on Badwater. Victory for England.

Both maps were very tight. Well was a great game with good play shown on both sides. RotW attacked first on Badwater and couldn’t quite get the cart all the way. England very nearly failed to push the cart to point one, but managed that in overtime. They then pushed the cart to point 3 and therefore won on time.

There were some organisational issues to be sorted out but we’ll look to do this again in 2009. Thanks to all who took part.

Phoenix is taking part in the first Welcome to Flavour Country Tournament in December. We’ll be entering two teams for 6v6. There are a few slots left. We have a flexible roster approach to this one, so anyone is free to apply. Sign up here.

We’re also hosting an ‘England vs the Rest of the World’ match next week. MaybeNextTime will captain England and Saturos will captain the RotW team. Again, anyone is welcome to apply for this. Details here.

Update: Servers are back

Servers are down for maintenance

Our TF2 and Vent servers are down at the moment as is Classy’s Left 4 Dead server.

Gameservers.com have said:

Quick update for everyone, me and Sean have over 50% of the servers moved however their will

be sporadic downtime tomorrow ( Friday 27th Nov ) on ALL London servers whilst we finish installing equipment. Please do not submit a ticket unless your server is down for OVER 2 hours.

After a brief off-season, Phoenix is looking to get back into some serious TF2 play. We don’t really want to wait for the new year.

There are several leagues which start in 2009, but there are ladders which are active now. If you’re interested, sign up and let us know so we can add you. More details on the Squad Forum.

Those players who don’t have access to the Squad Forum should contact Jason or West, or leave a comment for details on how to join the Squad. We’re looking at running several entries at once going forward, so we will be able to accomodate more players, and also players who can’t quite commit as much as others.

Phoenix is Recruiting

During the off-season Phoenix is looking to recruit players in the following classes:

Sniper, Heavy, Scout, Soldier.

Recruits need to be based in Europe and be able to attend weekly practice sessions as well as all matches, some of which may be arranged at short notice.

Wireplay 6v6 Season End

Well, the season is over. Back in April 2008 when the Phoenix rose, we never really thought that we would have entered and completed a TF2 league.

We finished mid-table, and I think it’s fair to say that we’re happy with that. We got off to a great start, winning our first two games and being awarded a default win for our Week 3 fixture. We lost out last four games, but overall we’ve done well.

Next up for the squad will be the Wireplay 7v7, and maybe even another league or ladder as well.
